High quality and beautiful colour combination Jul 21, 2009

I am very very pleased with this set, which I think is equally nice for a boy or girl. The pictures do not show the colours and patterns very well though, and I recommend browsing around to find better pictures showing the details. It is mainly black, white, soft green with a little blue in it (tropical ocean colour but softer, as I imagine the icy water at the poles!) and rusty red. The black has a few percent brown in it and the white is off-white which makes the set look softer and cosier.
The back side of the COMFORTER has the same pattern as behind the penguins: small reddish/soft pink leaves and berries on a light brown background. Might sound girly to some but I don't think it is. This reddish/brown pattern make it look great with our crib which has walnut finish, but I think it would look equally nice in a white, cherry, dark brown or black crib, perhaps(?) less good with a very light wood colour.
The FITTED SHEET has a tropical ocean green background, brighter than the velvet green bordering the comforter, but the white dots make it look less bright (makes me think of iceflakes) and it goes perfect with the velvet colour.
The BUMBER comes in four parts, the two long parts have whales on them and one short part has penguins and the other polar bears. My son loves to touch the different textures! I appreciate that the animals do not show any particular face expressions, like many other animal themed sets with smiling animals.
We have washed and tumble dried the comforter and sheet once (together) at low temperature and they look and feel like when we got them, i.e. no problems with colour coming off or threads coming loose or filling material clumping.
All the materials feel soft and are of high quality.

I love this set. Out of all the ones I liked my husband picked this one. I'm glad he did. The first reviewer pretty much said it all, so all I have to say is, I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone. :-)

We were looking for something neutral since we let the sex of our baby be a surprise. We had a boy! However, this set would work for either sex. It has light green, burgundy, white, black. Very good quality on every piece!!! They have other pieces that go with this set, wall hanging, diaper holder, etc. Our baby's rooms looks great!!

We really love the whole Arctic Babies line. I admit that I wasn't too sure about buying it at first, as I have a huge thing against nursery themes that don't make sense (like themes listed as "jungle" or "safari", yet many of the animals don't belong in the respective habitat, etc.). Inconsistencies like that really bother my husband and me. The fact that this theme is called Arctic Babies, and yet penguins aren't from the arctic sort of bothered us, and even our 8 year old daughter pointed out the improbability of penguins hanging out with polar bears. However, I had really wanted a cute penguin set, and this was by far the best one I could find, so I ended up making a concession for the inconsistency in the animal selection given the name of the theme, and I couldn't be happier. This set is so absolutely beautiful! Seriously, the photos do not do it justice at all. The colors look more muted in the photographs, which can make it difficult to match to other decor, but ordering something small first (like the throw pillows) is a good way to get a great example of the colors and see if it will work for you. The quality of the materials seems great, and I love all of the different textures, as our twin daughters should love them. I think this set is very cute, without being too childish and it's different from the usual stuff that you see. In addition, the price is better than for many other nursery sets that we considered. Finally, the fact that part of the proceeds goes toward conservation is a huge plus to us. All in all, we have been very happy with everything we've purchased from this set and can hardly wait for our little girls to arrive so that they can enjoy it all too! Now, I only wish that the hamper wasn't on back order.

This bedding set is absolutely adorable!!! Originally I had wanted some sort of Winnie the Pooh set, but my husband wasn't for it. So we searched and searched for a bedding set that could work for a boy or a girl and eventually we found the Arctic Babies set. My husband loved it!!! I think him having a mutual say in the selection of the bedding helped to keep him interested in selecting everything we needed for the nursery. The set is very gender neutral, its not overtly feminine or overly masculine and some how manages not to be your standard yellow or green like most "neutral" items. The other bonus to purchasing this set, and I didn't know this until the package was delivered, Cotton Tales donates money to real arctic babies and thier moms...I thought that was cool! If you want something nice for your little one but don't want the usual generic sets that everyone else has in their nurseries too, I highly recommend this set!!!
